TLC Works began long before it was a full business.
 
In Grade 10, it started as Tristen’s Lawn Care, a simple name for a simple idea. After school and during the summers, I mowed lawns to make some extra money and stay busy. It wasn’t something I fully committed to at first. It was just work, honest work, and a way to learn.
 
That changed in 2023. After finishing grade 10 in high school, I spent the summer applying for jobs around town. I handed out résumés with my mom, followed up, and waited. Nothing came back. I was young, inexperienced, and quickly realized that if I wanted an opportunity, I would have to create one.
 
One day, I saw a post on Facebook from someone looking for help mowing their lawn. I reached out without overthinking it. My mom dropped me off with a mower in the back of her car, and I quoted the job at $40. The yard was steep and overgrown, and it took nearly two hours to finish, but I paid close attention to every detail. It wasn’t my property, and someone trusted me to take care of it. When I was done, I felt proud. Not just because I earned money, but because I knew the work was done properly.
 
That season, I earned about $5,000. More importantly, I learned something that stuck with me: if you put in the extra effort and take responsibility for the work you do, it pays off, even if it takes time. Over the next two years, I reinvested everything back into the business. I learned how to price jobs properly, communicate clearly with clients, and deliver consistent results.
 
What started as Tristen’s Lawn Care evolved into TLC Works - a name that reflects how we approach every job: with Tender Love & Care. Looking back, I often think about how different things could have been. If one of those job applications had called me back, this business might never have existed. Instead, choosing to keep going, even when it was easier not to, shaped everything that followed.
 
Today, TLC Works is a locally owned property services company built on reliability, quality, and trust. From lawn maintenance and landscaping to cleanups, hardscaping, and site preparation, we focus on doing the small things right and treating every property like it matters.
 
Because it does.
